परम्परागत रूपमा नेपालमा हरेक कोठालाई ९ इन्चको इँट्टाको गारो लगाएर छुट्याउने चलन छ। यसले घरलाई अँध्यारो र सानो बनाउँछ। आधुनिक डिजाइनमा लिभिङ, डाइनिंग र भान्छालाई एउटै खुला स्थानमा राख्न सकिन्छ। तर, नेपाली भान्छामा मसला र तेलको प्रयोग बढी हुने भएकाले 'टेम्पर्ड ग्लास' को प्रयोग गरेर भान्छालाई छुट्याउनु बुद्धिमानी हुन्छ।

  • भर्‍याङ मुनिको प्रयोग: भर्‍याङ मुनिको खाली ठाउँलाई स्टोर रुम वा सानो वर्कस्टेशन (Workstation) को रूपमा प्रयोग गर्न सकिन्छ।
  • रंगको छनोट: सानो कोठामा गाढा रङ प्रयोग नगर्नुहोस्। सेतो वा 'अफ-वाइट' रङले कोठालाई उज्यालो र ठूलो देखाउँछ।
  • बहुउपयोगी फर्निचर: पाहुना आउँदा मात्र प्रयोग हुने कोठामा 'सोफा-कम-बेड' राख्दा अन्य समयमा उक्त कोठालाई अफिसको रूपमा प्रयोग गर्न सकिन्छ।

उज्यालो र भण्डारण (Storage) को व्यवस्थापन

काठमाडौंका बाक्ला बस्तीमा झ्यालबाट मात्र पर्याप्त प्रकाश आउँदैन। त्यसैले सिँढीको माथि 'स्काइलाइट' (Skylight) वा सिसाको छाना राख्दा दिनभर घरभित्र प्राकृतिक प्रकाश रहन्छ। यस्तै, घरलाई सफा राख्न सामान लुकाउने ठाउँ (Inbuilt Storage) चाहिन्छ।

  • जुत्ताको दराज: मूल ढोकामै बस्न मिल्ने खालको 'सिटिङ बेन्च' सहितको जुत्ताको दराज बनाउनुहोस्।
  • भान्छाको भण्डारण: चामलका बोरा, पानीका जार र ग्यास सिलिन्डर राख्नका लागि भान्छामा छुट्टै ठूलो दराज बनाउनुहोस्।
  • बक्स बेड: जाडोका सिरक र ठूला सुटकेस राख्नका लागि हाइड्रोलिक सिस्टम भएको बक्स बेड प्रयोग गर्नुहोस्।
